About Me

Having been an athlete since early childhood it was a natural progression for me to transition into a coaching role where I can help others discover a love for movement and build a foundation of health to carry them through life. Every person is born with an innate desire to move and test their capabilities; as coaches we have the best job of helping people reconnect with that inner athlete and discover their potential. I love that Crossfit forces people to face their weaknesses and do what scares them; whether that’s doing a muscle up or walking into a class of strangers. The growth that happens, both physically and personally, to a person after just a few months of training never ceases to amaze me. Seeing members gain the confidence to take life head on is by far the most rewarding aspect of coaching.

Prior to starting CrossFit I competed as a heptathlete/javelin thrower for the Universtty of Idaho Vandals where I graduated with a degree in exercise physiology and health education. I have stayed active in the sport of track and field volunteer coaching on and off for the last ten years. I started doing CrossFit in 2014 after realizing I was desperate to have a competitive outlet again. It was an eye-opening experience to realize how poorly distributed my athletic capabilities were. The past four years of CrossFit have pushed me to better my weaknesses, grow on a personal level, and have introduced me to so many amazing people. I’m excited to be a part of the AVID coaching team and help grow a tight-knit community of motivated, healthy, capable athletes! Favorite Workout/Movement: Karen, Grace, DT… how can you choose just one! Squatting, in any form, is my favorite lift. It’s such a great base for all athletic movement, you really can’t go wrong with a good old fashioned squat.
